It has been preached many times that we cannot go by our own strength,but are we really applying this concept?

Never understood what this mesmerizing song really meant when I heard it years ago while playing the game civilisation 4.It is not until tonight did I realize that it is the award winning version of the Lord's prayer in Swahili composed by Christopher Tin.

And about the mis-translation in the video.Yetu doesn't mean Jesus as His name does not appear in the Lord's prayer.Instead it is Yesu which means Jesus or rather Saviour.In anycase,the rest of the lyrics is correctly translated.I've done my research before posting anything on this blog so don't worry =.= I do hope that you'll enjoy this song as much as I did.

In line with what Pastor has preached,I'd like to add on some pretty useful information I've learnt during a seminar ran in my school a couple of days ago.The seminar's speaker is a Christian and he totally agrees with what Pastor has preached over the past couple of weeks.

Firstly,I'd be talking about negative beliefs or what psychologists around the world call schemas.These are the 10 common ones a lot of people face today,and do not be surprised if you find yourself subconsciously having one or more of the below-mentioned negative belief systems.

I stink : I am worthless,no good,of no value
You stink : A person who offends me is no good
Namby-Pamby : I can't stand it ,I can't cope,I'll go crazy
Monster : Someone is out trying to harm me. i.e you believe that a teacher is out to get you
Doomsday : This event is catastrophic,the future is hopeless
Fairy-tale : Things should be better,the world should be like ..........
Alone : I'm rejected,I'm alone
Kitten : I feel powerless against the circumstances
Bomb : I can't control my feelings
Victim : It is unfair.God has done me wrong.

Next,I'd be elucidating on how one's beliefs are linked to certain feelings.The belief will be written first followed by the corresponding negative emotion it will evoke.In order to due with a negative emotion,one must know what beliefs are we supposed to finetune based on the symptoms shown in order to avoid similar future problems.

Loss of self-worth (Thinking lesser of myself).........Depression/sadness
Future Threat e.g.new competitor at school or work (Something bad is going to happen to me)..........Anxiety
Violation of rights(Someone did not respect me)...........Anger
Violation of another's rights(I did not respect someone else)...........Guilt
Loss of one's standing with others(Lose face)...........embarrassment.

I think it's time I breath some life into this blog,it's pretty dead.Thus,I'm sure Joys won't mind me doing one or two updates now.Firstly,I will begin by posting up a pretty powerful prayer Pastor Rick Warren made in a service during a Hillsong conference.Here it goes.......

Today,I'm stepping across the line.I'm tired of waffling and I'm finished of wavering.I've made my choice.The verdict is in and my decision is irrevocable.I'm going God's way.There's no turning back now.I will live the rest of my life serving God's purpose with God's people on God's planet for God's glory.I will use my life to celebrate His presence,cultivate His character,participate in His family,demonstrate His love and communicate His word.

Since my past has been forgiven and I have a purpose for living and a home awaiting for me in heaven,thus I refuse to waste any more time or energy on shallow living,petty thinking,trivial talking,thoughtless doing,useless regretting,hurtful resenting or faithless worrying.Instead,I will magnify God,grow to maturity,serve in ministry and fulfill my mission in the membership of His family.

Because this life is preparation for the next,I will value worship over wealth,we over me,character over comfort,service over status and people over possessions,position and pleasures.I know what matters most and I'll give it all I've got.I'll do my best I can with what I have for Jesus Christ today.

I won't be captivated by culture,manipulated by critics,motivated by praise,frustrated by problems,debilitated by temptation or intimidated by the devil.I'll keep running my race with my eyes on the goal and not the sidelines or those running beside me.

When times get tough and I get tired,I won't back up,back off,back down,back out or backslide.I'll just keep moving forward by God's grace.I'm spirit-led,purpose-driven and mission-focused,so I cannot be bought,I will not be compromised and I shall not quit until I finish the race.

I'm a trophy of God's amazing grace,so I will be gracious to everyone,grateful for everyday and generous with everything that God entrusts to me.

To my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,I say,"However,Whenever,Wherever and Whatever You ask me to do,my answer in advance is yes!"Wherever You lead and whatever the cost,I'm ready.Anytime,Anywhere,Anyway.Whatever it takes Lord!Whatever it takes! The confirm Mission Trip dates are finally out!

Cambodia (led by Brother Rixiang):
1. 4- 10 Oct (for poly students - have to quickly sign up soon)
2. 29 Nov - 5 Dec

Thailand (led by Sis Nana):
29 Nov - 5 Dec

Philippines (led by Pastor Daniel and sis wanping):
26 Nov - 3 Dec(this trip is also for the Z3 Band for the evangelistic rallies)

Due to air tickets,we need to respond quickly and hence, the deadline for all the forms are 5 September( Sat.). I have the soft copies of the forms so pls ask me if you need one. Remember that forms must be complete before we buy tickets meaning that the below are needed upon registration:

1. Photo (scanned printed photos are ok)
2. Photocopies of page with photo and expiry dates and any other extension. (2 copies)
3. $100 (necessary to buy air tickets)
4. Indemnity form (back) all signed

Note: If you can pay in full, please pay $700 first. We are working very hard to cut down the cost. Any remainder would be quickly refunded. Thanks!

In order to make it success, this following criteria need to be met.

1. YOUR presence.
A cell group dinner won't be one without the people, do make your effort to come.
If possible, can ask your parents whether can you have dinner outside for one week for those who need to eat at home.
And if you can't stay out too long, try to see whether can come out of house abit later in the afternoon but don't be late for cell ar :D
do all you can :D

2. OF COURSE, FOOD :D

okay, the food won't pop up.
so it will be like a ''pot-luck''thingy.
But, this time, there is no fix thing, just bring what you like to eat or what you will want the cell group to try.
For example: khoon is very good at making sushi, or mun kidd very good at cooking noodle, or regina good at jelly.

For drinks and plate all this, do not need to worry.

Against all odds.

Someone showed me this youtube video about abortion survivor gianna jessen giving a very compelling message about how God gave her life against all odds. her life mission is to make God smile. how many of us can say the same for ourselves?

Her life story starts with how her biological mother who was 17 then had a saline abortion in her third trimester (7.5 month pregnant) because she was not prepared to have a baby. it involves injecting saline solution into the mother's womb and it starts to burn the baby, and the baby is delivered within 24 hours, dead. despite the saline abortion, gianna was born alive and with celebral palsy.

But her never-give-up and shine-for-Christ attitude has brought her to complete marathons (even though she still has a limp) and address audiences around the world without fear of speaking up for the truth.

A few quotes from her speech at queen's hall, parliament house, victoria, australia, on 8 september 2008. it was on the eve of the debate to decriminalize abortion in Victoria...

"I didn't survive so I could make everyone comfortable. I survived so I could stir things up a bit. And I have a great time doing it."

"We are in an interesting battle. It is a battle between life and death. What side are you on?"

"My mission is to infuse humanity into a debate that we have just compartmentalized, and set on a shelf, and say (abortion) is an issue. We have removed our emotions. We are becoming harder."

"How much are you willing to take it and how much are you willing to risk, to speak the truth in love and graciousness and stand up and at least be willing to be hated? Or at the end of the day, is it all about you? Or me?"

He Did It Just For Youby Max Lucado

When God entered time and became a man, he who was boundless became bound. Imprisoned in flesh. Restricted by weary-prone muscles and eyelids. For more than three decades, his once limitless reach would be limited to the stretch of an arm, his speed checked to the pace of human feet.

I wonder, was he ever tempted to reclaim his boundlessness? In the middle of a long trip, did he ever consider transporting himself to the next city? When the rain chilled his bones, was he tempted to change the weather? When the heat parched his lips, did he give thought to popping over to the Caribbean for some refreshment?

If ever he entertained such thoughts, he never gave in to them. Not once. Stop and think about this. Not once did Christ use his supernatural powers for personal comfort. With one word he could’ve transformed the hard earth into a soft bed, but he didn’t. With a wave of his hand, he could’ve boomeranged the spit of his accusers back into their faces, but he didn’t. With an arch of his brow, he could’ve paralyzed the hand of the soldier as he braided the crown of thorns. But he didn’t.

Want to know the coolest thing about the coming?

Not that he, in an instant, went from needing nothing to needing air, food, a tub of hot water and salts for his tired feet, and, more than anything, needing somebody—anybody—who was more concerned about where he would spend eternity than where he would spend Friday’s paycheck.
Not that he kept his cool while the dozen best friends he ever had felt the heat and got out of the kitchen. Or that he gave no command to the angels who begged, “Just give the nod, Lord. One word and these demons will be deviled eggs.”

Not that he refused to defend himself when blamed for every sin since Adam. Or that he stood silent as a million guilty verdicts echoed in the tribunal of heaven and the giver of light was left in the chill of a sinner’s night.

Not even that after three days in a dark hole he stepped into the Easter sunrise with a smile and a swagger and a question for lowly Lucifer—“Is that your best punch?”

That was cool, incredibly cool.

But want to know the coolest thing about the One who gave up the crown of heaven for a crown of thorns?

He did it for you. Just for you.

I enjoyed the birthday song you guys sang, the birthday cake which I sadly didn't get to eat, the words of blessing from individual one of you ( I was laughing while watching the video in my cam!), the video you guys took so much effort to do (heard from other cell leaders that you guys did it on the previous sat after I left and that you guys sang happy birthday so loudly that all of them know bout it) and not forgetting the scrapbook with all your beautiful pictures.

What a statement of trust! Whatever you want me to have is all I want. Some days the plate runs over. God keeps bringing out more food and we keep loosening our belt. A promotion. A privilege. A friendship. A gift. A lifetime of grace. An eternity of joy. There are times when we literally push ourselves back from the table, amazed at God’s kindness. “You serve me a six-course dinner right in front of my enemies. You revive my drooping head; my cup fills with blessing” (Ps. 23:5 MSG).

And then there are those days when, well, when we have to eat our broccoli. Our daily bread could be tears or sorrow or discipline. Our portion may include adversity as well as opportunity.
This verse was on my mind last night during family devotions. I called my daughters to the table and set a plate in front of each. In the center of the table I placed a collection of food: some fruit, some raw vegetables and some Oreo cookies. “Every day,” I explained, “God prepares for us a plate of experiences. What kind of plate do you most enjoy?”

The answer was easy. Sara put three cookies on her plate. Some days are like that, aren’t they? Some days are “three cookie days.” Many are not. Sometimes our plate has nothing but vegetables—twenty-four hours of celery, carrots, and squash. Apparently God knows we need some strength, and though the portion may be hard to swallow, isn’t it for our own good? Most days, however, have a bit of it all. Vegetables, which are healthy but dull. Fruit, which tastes better and we enjoy. And even an Oreo, which does little for our nutrition, but a lot for our attitude.

All are important and all are from God.

The next time your plate has more broccoli than apple pie, remember who prepared the meal. And the next time your plate has a portion you find hard to swallow, talk to God about it. Jesus did. In the garden of Gethsemane his Father handed him a cup of suffering so sour, so vile, that Jesus handed it back to heaven. “My Father,” he prayed, “if it is possible may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will” (Matt. 26:39).

Even Jesus was given a portion he found hard to swallow. But with God’s help, he did. And with God’s help, you can too.

September School Holis..

Hey all,

As we all know, our long awaited and hopefully well deserved september holidays are coming here again. This holiday, service 2 has something lined up for all of us to get us more connected to the Vine.

First up is the ER(encounter retreat) from 1st september, 1pm to 2nd september, 1pm. For those who have never been to an ER, please leave a tag on the tag box or sms joys and indicate if you can come this time round. It would be a stay over thing in church.

Next up would be our monthly service 2 prayer meeting. It would be on tuesday, 2nd september, 1pm in church main sanctuary. It would be a time of praying and sharing of testimonies and is estimated to end around 4pm.

So please make yourself free on these dates and not plan any class outings or chalets, alright.

Till the september holis, make sure you guys are making study fun for His glory.

My college friends and I barely escaped a West Texas storm before it pummeled the park where we were spending a Saturday afternoon. As we were leaving, my buddy brought the car to a sudden stop and gestured to a tender sight on the ground. A mother bird sat exposed to the rain, her wing extended over her baby who had fallen out of the nest. The fierce storm prohibited her from returning to the tree, so she covered her child until the wind passed.

From how many winds is God protecting you? His wing, at this moment, shields you. A slanderous critic heading toward your desk is interrupted by a phone call. A burglar en route to your house has a flat tire. A drunk driver runs out of gas before your car passes his. God, your guardian, protects you from

“every trap” (Ps. 91:3);

“the fatal plague” (Ps. 91:3);

“the plague that stalks in darkness” (Ps. 91:6);

“the terrors of the night…the dangers of the day” (Ps. 91:5).

One translation boldly promises: “Nothing bad will happen to you” (Ps. 91:10 NCV).

“Then why does it?” someone erupts. “Explain my job transfer. Or the bum who called himself my dad. Or the death of our child.” If God is our guardian, why do bad things happen to us?

Have they? Have bad things really happened to you? You and God may have different definitions for the word bad.

God views your life the way you view a movie after you’ve read the book. When something bad happens, you feel the air sucked out of the theater. Everyone else gasps at the crisis on the screen. Not you. Why? You’ve read the book. You know how the good guy gets out of the tight spot. God views your life with the same confidence. He’s not only read your story…he wrote it. His perspective is different, and his purpose is clear.

God uses struggles to toughen our spiritual skin.

Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way. (James 1:2–4)

Trust him. “But when I am afraid, I put my trust in you” (Ps. 56:3). Join with Isaiah, who resolved, “I will trust in him and not be afraid” (Isa. 12:2).

God is directing your steps and delighting in every detail of your life (Ps. 37:23–24). In fact, that’s his car pulling over to the side of the road. That’s God opening the door. And that’s you climbing into the passenger seat.

Be Still And Know He is God!

Have you ever wanted to hear from God and never heard anything?

Sometimes when we want to hear from God, we expect Him to make Himself known in a big and mighty way. After all, He is a big and mighty God, right? In the story of the prophet Elijah, God had told Elijah to go stand on a mountain. A mighty windstorm came and knocked rocks loose. But God was not in the wind. Then there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. Next there was a fire, but God was not in the fire, either. Finally, after the fire, there was the sound of a still small voice. Elijah covered his face when he heard it.

God was in the whisper. (1 Kings 19:10-13)

In our loud and busy lives we have become used to getting everything quickly and satisfying our needs while on the run out the door or through a drive-thru window. Kids, family, friends, and work all contribute to the windstorms, earthquakes, and fires in our everyday lives. And when we have a problem or an issue in our lives, we wonder why we can't hear God.

"Where is God?" you might ask.

Psalm 46:10 says, "Be still and know I am God!" Be still. Slow down for five minutes. Take a deep breath. Focus on God and the blessings He has given you. He is always there. Spend some quiet time and maybe you will hear that still small voice that calls out to you.

Thump-Thud, Thump-Thud

When a potter bakes a pot, he checks its solidity by pulling it out of the oven and thumping it. If it “sings,” it’s ready. If it “thuds,” it’s placed back in the oven.

The character of a person is also checked by thumping.

Been thumped lately?

Late-night phone calls. Grouchy teacher. Grumpy moms. Burnt meals. Flat tires. You’ve-got-to-be-kidding deadlines. Those are thumps. Thumps are those irritating inconveniences that trigger the worst in us. They catch us off guard. Flat-footed. They aren’t big enough to be crises, but if you get enough of them, watch out! Traffic jams. Long lines. Empty mailboxes. Dirty clothes on the floor. Even as I write this, I’m being thumped. Because of interruptions, it has taken me almost two hours to write these two paragraphs. Thump. Thump. Thump.

How do I respond? Do I sing, or do I thud?

Jesus said that out of the nature of the heart a man speaks (Luke 6:45). There’s nothing like a good thump to reveal the nature of a heart. The true character of a person is seen not in momentary heroics but in the thump-packed humdrum of day-to-day living.

If you have a tendency to thud more than you sing, take heart.

There is hope for us “thudders”:

Begin by thanking God for thumps. I don’t mean a half-hearted thank-you. I mean a rejoicing, jumping-for-joy thank-you from the bottom of your heart (James 1:2). Chances are that God is doing the thumping. And he’s doing it for your own good. So every thump is a reminder that God is molding you (Hebrews 12:5-8).

Learn from each thump. Face up to the fact that you are not “thump-proof.” You are going to be tested from now on. You might as well learn from the thumps—you can’t avoid them. Look upon each inconvenience as an opportunity to develop patience and persistence. Each thump will help you or hurt you, depending on how you use it.

Be aware of “thump-slump” times. Know your pressure periods. For me, Mondays are infamous for causing thump-slumps. Fridays can be just as bad. For all of us, there are times during the week when we can anticipate an unusual amount of thumping. The best way to handle thump-slump times? Head on. Bolster yourself with extra prayer, and don’t give up.

Remember no thump is disastrous. All thumps work for good if we are loving and obeying God.

Daniel 1-3

Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego- Their courage and trust in God was greatly shown through their decisions and steps of faith taken.
In the case of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, in the face of impending doom, they stood fast to the first commandment to not bow down n worship any other thing other than God Almighty. God delivered them and it glorified God.
We have learned a lot the past few weeks from WWJD, WWSD to Spiritual warfare and to put God above everything else. Apply what u guys learn! if possible get the CDs and listen to the sermons again!
Stand firm in what we believe in and God's promises and obey His laws, this is especially vital as qing ming jie is drawing closer.

Hey saints,

It's just 2 days before 2008. I've been wanting to pen down my thoughts on this blog for quite some time. Guess, this would be the most appropriate time otherwise, I will never make time to write my reflections.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank God for all of you. You all have been a blessing in my life, always loving, encouraging me and making saturdays my favourite day of the week. A big hug for you guys.

Even as we look forawrd to 2008 in hope an anticiaption, my prayer for all of you is commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3.

May 2008 be a fabulous year for all of us as we continue to hide in the shadow of His wings.

But his wife's sickness continued, so friends and neighbors came to sitwith her around the clock.

To feed them, the farmer butchered the pig.

The farmer's wife did not get well; she died.

So many people came for her funeral, the farmer had the cow slaughteredto provide enough meat for all of them.

The mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness.

So, the next time you hear someone is facing a problem and think itdoesn't concern you, remember -- when one of us is threatened, we areall at risk.

We are all involved in this journey called life. We must keep an eye outfor one another and make an extra effort to encourage one another.

Hi joys,

nothing much... i just want to write.. maybe to encourage, maybe to speak off my truthful mind. And of the most insignificant reason, I'm a NS man in hours time (no worries, God gave me peace).

I wanna thank you and Kairos for all the wonderful memories - well, you know, my daughters included. They had been such a sweetheart. Perhaps unknowingly, they had change my feelings, qualms and thoughts that i once had for being in Kairos. But nevertheless, I thank Kairos for being such a fun-loving cell. I used to think that cell group was scary: it was like a flock of wild brutes. Alas, i began to find joy in the madness. I'm referring to our loud screaming, noisy running and "unbearable highness".

Do you know what is nice about Kairos other than the inexplicable "highness"? At least to me, it's the innocent love the runs around the cell. Innocent love like the untainted and pure mind of a child - the love without doubts or suspicion, the immediate love that goes forth because someone said or did something and the unbridled expression (this touches me the most).

Thanks my daughters for the dome pie, ginger bread man paper cuttings, little notes, the big cards, the cheers and so many more. I remember them all. Ye art a great joy in cell.

I see that Kairos is capable of sharing God's love around. Everyone takes a step of faith and we will see mountains move. God told me that saying Amen to prayer of faith doesn't make us the believer of the prayer. It merely commits an agreement to it. Agreement with doubts makes no believe. Let's believe in God's promises with our simple faith and we'll see things happen.

After blabbering a considerable loads, i think I want to sleep and anticipate my nearing NS (mind you, NS is like jail, except you indulged yourself in torture). But before i'm off, I just wanna HUG Kairos for making my day (Card and wood tub). Not of least, I thank God for the miraculous weather when we were at Sentosa and the Free Enterance.

Sentosa+Outreach=Fun, fun and more fun!!

Venue: Sentosa where there's sun, sand and sea.
Date: 13th October 2007 (Sat)
Time: 10.15am we will be meeting at Bukit Batok MRT.

If I am not wrong, this will be our first cell outing to sentosa and we are all gonna have a fun time together. We are all gonna play on the sand, in the sea and under the sand with our pre-believers' friends!

So do remember to keep each of our new friends to be in prayers as we pray for this event ie. the weather, the venue, the food and everything lar.

Just saturday, one of the best preacher spoke about procrastination and so if you have hear the word of God and procrastinate to do His work, it would all be futile.(You wouldn't want to be like this 'friend' which is mentioned in the above poem) So do remember that we are all called to do His work and that He did not called the prepared/ better/smarter/stronger ones but the willing ones to do His work. All those in the OT may not have been ready but when God called them, they sure were willing.

EDIT: As there will be limited leaders( most leaders are in poly or uni and they have either exams or lessons like me): ) going for this trip, the news as of now is that they will limit to only 200 people. So it's better to registrate early.

Last week, we had a fun time at cell just eating, playing, eating, talking and playing. And we all want to just thank MISS LIKHOON for your kind contribution to the cell. We all love food! (:

Okay, this week,after so much food and feeling recharged, I would need you guys to start praying for a few matters...

1. Newban Gents!!! (dance, dance, dance)
Pray that your friends whom you are going to invite will join us in this event. Don't care bout the thoughts that this person cannot one lar, he won't want to come one uh and so on. Because it's God who draws and our only effort is to ASK! Ask it shall be given, so ask for your friends salvation and invite them to this event. (:

2. GB Fornight Cards.
Most of you have received your GB fornight (if you are a GB girl and if not, I have issued you one), do pray that you will meet cheerful givers who would be so willing to donate to the GB cause both you and I love cheerful givers and so do God. So pray that more $$ would come in and fund our GB programs.

3. Everyone in cell <3
Yes, it's important to daily lift up yourself and it's also super important to pray for your cell group because we don't want to be in a dead cell that is not growing spirirually and in quantity. So pray for one another that there is break throughs in our daily lives, that people would be consistent in their QT and that we would all become more like Him.

Hey! Just posting to share a story that I read it on some others blog . I hope I have not offened anyone by posting it here. It's all for a good cause- to encourgae one another eh.

Malachi 3:3 "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver."

This verse puzzled some women in Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God. One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.

That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver.

As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities. The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: "He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver." She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined. The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.

The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?" He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy - when I see my image in it."

If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has His eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.

And when you go through trials or circumstances you don't seem to understand, remember this story!

and daddy said I should go inside
Somehow he knew things would get stormy,
boy was he right

if there was something that he had to hide
So after he left I had to find out,
I was not afraid of getting lost

Encounter retreat is so so cool. We all experienced God in a mighty way we never had. When I see all of you going on bended knees with tears on your faces, crying out to the Holy One, jumping so freely with joy, I know what 'the joy of the Lord is my strength' means.

This is the retreat that we enjoyed. This is the day that we all said- I'm gonna let go and let God. This is the camp that we all sleep together and had subway together. This is the very moment that all our lives had changed. This is the picture that marks our encounter with God as a cell. (:

PS. Let's fast and pray for our cell group this week as we want to see breakthroughs in this cell. You can pray for growth -that theLord will continue to add numbers to us ( we all love new friends), each other -many have been missing these few weeks (we all want to see them back in cell uh) andalso whatever that comes to your mind that you feel a need to pray just pray.

Galatians 6:9 - Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

So let's continue to press on in prayers and in love to see that harvest God has in store for us.

In the month of june...

We had Radical Conference. We had LTC. And we all have an encounter with God.

I was very happy to hear some good testimonials of how lifes were changed after this 2 event. I had parent calling up telling me how their daughter have changed after the conference and oh boy, it was for the better. And I have read blogs ( I stalked at all your blogs fyi) about what you girls have learnt through Radical and LTC and how it spoke to you girls. It's so cool. I wish we are in the month of june every day.

Now, even as we have seen and tasted the goodness of God, let's not forget to continue to tell our world that Jesus lives!

went down to lot1 to buy ~~myself~~ charcoal with chango yani. we had fun sitting by the train station eating ice cream.
see, advantage for going out with csm: i treat you makan ice cream :D
and we were the first to reach jacelyn's house. hahha. we were SUPER EARLY. and we started messing around with the very-cool-roman-ms pageant like stairs near the pit.
soon later, the rest came, with 大包小包s of food.
some started trying to light the fire using some rabbit brand fire starter. some, because the rest like me don't know how to. 人多，手忙脚乱.

Sheryl then had fun burning rabbit for their meat when the fire FINALLY started.

and HOTDOG SISTERS started posing with their very beloved hotdogs and one very satisfied beehoon customer.
not forgetting the very busy camera LADY...

Hi dearies.

Finally, it's 1 day to Radical conference!!! (can't wait, can't wait)

So for friday, we'll be meeting at bukit timah mac at 4.30pm to have our dinner at rooftop and to make our way to church. Those who have dinner at home or can't do dinner, let's meet 6pm in church.

Isn't it strange how a 20 dollar bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping?

Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when you're at church, and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie?

Isn't it strange that you can't find a word to say when you're praying, but you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?

Isn't it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel?

Isn't it strange how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games, but they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Church?

Isn't it strange how we need to know about an event for church 2-3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda, but we can adjust it for other events in the last minute?

Isn't it strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others, but how easy it is to gossip?

Isn't it strange how we believe everything that magazines and newspapers say, but we question the words in the Bible?

Isn't it strange how everyone wants a place in heaven, but they don't want to believe, do, or say anything to get there?

Isn't it strange how we send jokes in emails and they are forwarded right away, but when we are going to send messages about God, we think about it twice before we share it with others?

Hey dears.

It's great to see this blog alive and kicking with so many tags.
The BBQ really bring all of us here uh.

Anyway, even as we are all excited bout the BBQ, lets' not forget to keep our cell group in prayers. Today, small jacelyn was telling me that she was reading cleo's blog one day and felt the need to pray for cleo to be able to come church. So she just say a prayer after reading and guess what! Cleo joined us on saturday. Totally cool uh!!! So don't underestimiate the power of your prayers.

So this week, we are going to pray for these few things..

1. Good weather on our BBQ day. We won't like our chicken wing to taste like the rain, right.

2. For people like cleo, racheal, pamela, lilin (just to name a few) that they would be able to join us in church every week. We would all love to have them aroud uh.

3. For the strength and discipline to read our bible, pray and listen to what He got to say to us. This is vital and all of us really need this!!

4. For our cell members. You know each of their individual's prayer request. So just keep them in ya prayers.

That's all for now. I'm hoping to hear more stories bout what you prayed for and how God answered and bring it to past. It really encourages me.So pray pray pray until something happen.

Strengthened by Angels

Ivan Moiseyev, 18 years old, U.S.S.R., 1970

Although he had never been there before, Private Ivan “Vanya” Moiseyev knew what awaited him at the major’s office. The Communists were endlessly calling him to headquarters for talks, trying to “re-educate” him, to talk him out of his faith in God.

It was lunchtime. The sun was shining brightly in the blue sky, and the snow was glistening. As Moiseyev walked along the snowy sidewalk, he praised God for this time alone, time to sing and pray.

The morning was so bright that at first Moiseyev didn’t notice; suddenly, it caught his eye. A bright star began to fall from heaven. Like a comet, it came closer and became bigger and bigger.

He looked up to see an angel above him, bright and powerful. Moiseyev’s heart was filled with joy – and fear.

The angel did not descend all the way to earth, but hovered about 200 years above the ground. He walked in the air above Moiseyev as though walking along the same road. Then the angel spoke:
“Ivan, go. Don’t be afraid. I am with you.”

Ivan couldn’t speak, but his joy was like a fire within him. Somehow he made it to Major Gidenko’s office and knocked quietly on the door.
Major Gidenko, head of the Political Directive Committee, looked up as the young soldier entered. Ivan Moiseyev had been interrogated again and again by many others and had never backed away from his faith. Still, Gidenko was certain he could solve this problem.

“Moiseyev, you don’t look like a poor pupil to me. Why are you not learning the correct answers?” he asked.

“Sometimes there is a difference between the correct answers and the true ones,” Ivan answered. “Sometimes God does not permit to give ‘correct’ answers.”

“So, God talks to you? Who is this God of yours?” As soon as he has asked this question, Gidenko regretted it. Ivan leaned forward in his chair, his face glowing with joy at the opportunity to share his faith.

“Sir, He is the One who created all the universe. He greatly loves man, and sent His Son– “

Gidenko interrupted. “Yes, yes I know the Christian teaching. But what has that got to do with being a solider? Do you disagree with the teaching of the glorious Red Army?”

“No, sir.”

“But you do not accept the principles of scientific atheism upon which is based our entire Soviet state and the military power of the army?”

“I cannot accept what I know to be untrue. Everything else I can gladly accept.”

“Moiseyev, no one can prove the existence of God. Even priests and pastors agree on that.”

“Sir, they may speak about not being able to prove God, but there is no question about knowing Him. He is with me now, in this room. Before I came here, he sent an angel to encourage me.”

Gidenko stared intently at Ivan. At last he spoke wearily,” I am sorry, Moiseyev that you will not be reasonable. your persistence will do nothing for you except bring discomfort. However, through the years I have found that men like you often come to their senses with a little discipline.
“I am ordering you to stand in the street tonight after taps are played. You will stand there until you are willing to reconsider this nonsense about talking gods and angels.

“Since the temperature is likely to be thirteen degrees below zero, for your sake, I hope you quickly agree to behave sensibly. Tomorrow we shall make a plan together for your political re-education. You are dismissed.”

Gidenko expected Moiseyev to hesitate, to reconsider. Instead, he squared his shoulders and walked quietly to the door.

“Private Moiseyev!”

When the soldier turned around, Gidenko noticed he was a little pale. So Moiseyev had understood the order!

“You will obey my instructions in summer uniform. That is all.”

That night, as the bugle sounded, Ivan made his way down the stairs of the barracks and into the snowy street. He recoiled from the icy blast of wind that burned his ears and made his eyes water. His thin summer uniform was no help in the bitter cold. He glanced at his watch. It was 10:01P.M.

Tonight, he would have a long time to pray! But for the first time since he had been in the Soviet army, prayer did not come easily. He was worried. Could he stand out here all night? What if he froze to death? Would they let him freeze to death? What if he got so cold he gave in to their demands?

The “what ifs” flooded his mind and left it spinning. He knew he had to think of something else. Then he remembered the angel who had visited him that morning. The angel had said, “Do not be afraid, I am with you!” Suddenly he realized the angel’s words had been for tonight! Although he could no longer see him, Moiseyev knew the angel was still there with him. He began to pray fervently.

At 12.30 A.M. he was distracted from his prayers by the crunching sound of footsteps in the snow. Bundled in their overcoats, hates, and boots, three officers were slowly making their way toward him.
“Private Moiseyev, have you changed your mind yet? Are you ready to come in and get warm?”

“No, comrade officers. As much as I want to come in and go to bed, I cannot. I will never agree to remain silent about God.”

Even in the dim light Moiseyev could the officers were amazed and confused. How could he stand such cold?

“Do you plan to stand out here all night long?”

“I don’t see how anything else is possible, and God is helping me.” Ivan checked his hands – they were cold, but not too cold. He could still move his toes easily. It was a miracle! He looked at the officers and could see that even in their coats they were already shaking from the cold. They were stamping their feet and slapping their hands, impatient to return to their heated barracks.

“You’ll feel differently in another hour,” the senior officer mumbled as they quickly turned away.

Ivan continued to pray for all the believers he knew. He sang Christmas carols. He prayed for every officer he knew and knew of. He cried out to God on behalf of the men in his barracks. But gradually his mind seemed to be floating somewhere outside of his head. As much as he tried, prayer eluded him.

Ivan was dozing on his feet when, at 3A.M., the senior officer on duty woke him and let him return to the barracks.

For the next twelve nights, Ivan continued to stand in the street outside his barracks. Miraculously, he did not freeze, nor did he beg for mercy. Ivan continued to speak about his faith to his comrades and officers. He sang about the glory of Jesus Christ in his barracks, though this was strictly prohibited. To those who threatened him, he replied, "A lark threatened with death for singing would still continue to sing. She cannot renounce her nature. Neither can we Christians.”

Soldiers around him were converted, impressed by his faith.

His commanders continued to interrogate him, trying to get him to deny Jesus. They put him in refrigerated cells. They clothed him in a special rubber suit, into which they pumped air until his chest was so compressed he could hardly breathe.

At the age of twenty, Ivan knew that the Communists would kill him. On July 11, 1972, he wrote to his parents, “You will not see me anymore.” He then described a vision of angels and heaven that God had sent to strengthen him for the last trial.

A few days later, his body was returned to his family. It showed that he had been stabled six times around the heart. He had wounds on his head and around the mouth. There were signs of beatings on the whole body. Then he had been drowned.

Colonel Malsin, his commander, said, “Moiseyev died with difficulty. He fought with death, but he died as a Christian.”

“MY dear parents, the Lord has shown the way to me... and I have decided to follow it... I will now have more severe and bigger battles than I have had till now. But I do not fear them. He goes before me. Do not grieve for me, my dear parents. It is because I love Jesus more than myself. I listen to Him, though my body does fear somewhat or does not wish to go through everything. I do this because I do not value my life as much as I value Him. And I will not await my own wait, but I will follow as the Lord leads. He says, ‘Go,’ and I go.

“Do not become grieved if this is your son’s last letter. Because I myself, when I see and hear visions, hear how angels speak and see, I am even amazed and cannot believe that Vanya, your son, talked with angels. We continue to shout our praise even when we’re hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we’re never left feeling short-changed. Quite the contrary – we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!
