Never understood what this mesmerizing song really meant when I heard it years ago while playing the game civilisation 4.It is not until tonight did I realize that it is the award winning version of the Lord's prayer in Swahili composed by Christopher Tin.

And about the mis-translation in the video.Yetu doesn't mean Jesus as His name does not appear in the Lord's prayer.Instead it is Yesu which means Jesus or rather Saviour.In anycase,the rest of the lyrics is correctly translated.I've done my research before posting anything on this blog so don't worry =.= I do hope that you'll enjoy this song as much as I did.

This is a really powerful sermon preached by Rick Warren during the Hillsong 2006 conference.He is preaching about what is in your hands,or in other words are you using to the fullest potential what God has blessed you with or are you abusing it.He reminded me about this message I watched months ago after He spoke to me during YI camp.I hope this message will enlighten you as much as it has enlightened me.

In line with what Pastor has preached,I'd like to add on some pretty useful information I've learnt during a seminar ran in my school a couple of days ago.The seminar's speaker is a Christian and he totally agrees with what Pastor has preached over the past couple of weeks.

Firstly,I'd be talking about negative beliefs or what psychologists around the world call schemas.These are the 10 common ones a lot of people face today,and do not be surprised if you find yourself subconsciously having one or more of the below-mentioned negative belief systems.

I stink : I am worthless,no good,of no value
You stink : A person who offends me is no good
Namby-Pamby : I can't stand it ,I can't cope,I'll go crazy
Monster : Someone is out trying to harm me. i.e you believe that a teacher is out to get you
Doomsday : This event is catastrophic,the future is hopeless
Fairy-tale : Things should be better,the world should be like ..........
Alone : I'm rejected,I'm alone
Kitten : I feel powerless against the circumstances
Bomb : I can't control my feelings
Victim : It is unfair.God has done me wrong.

Next,I'd be elucidating on how one's beliefs are linked to certain feelings.The belief will be written first followed by the corresponding negative emotion it will evoke.In order to due with a negative emotion,one must know what beliefs are we supposed to finetune based on the symptoms shown in order to avoid similar future problems.

Loss of self-worth (Thinking lesser of myself).........Depression/sadness
Future Threat e.g.new competitor at school or work (Something bad is going to happen to me)..........Anxiety
Violation of rights(Someone did not respect me)...........Anger
Violation of another's rights(I did not respect someone else)...........Guilt
Loss of one's standing with others(Lose face)...........embarrassment.

I think it's time I breath some life into this blog,it's pretty dead.Thus,I'm sure Joys won't mind me doing one or two updates now.Firstly,I will begin by posting up a pretty powerful prayer Pastor Rick Warren made in a service during a Hillsong conference.Here it goes.......

Today,I'm stepping across the line.I'm tired of waffling and I'm finished of wavering.I've made my choice.The verdict is in and my decision is irrevocable.I'm going God's way.There's no turning back now.I will live the rest of my life serving God's purpose with God's people on God's planet for God's glory.I will use my life to celebrate His presence,cultivate His character,participate in His family,demonstrate His love and communicate His word.

Since my past has been forgiven and I have a purpose for living and a home awaiting for me in heaven,thus I refuse to waste any more time or energy on shallow living,petty thinking,trivial talking,thoughtless doing,useless regretting,hurtful resenting or faithless worrying.Instead,I will magnify God,grow to maturity,serve in ministry and fulfill my mission in the membership of His family.

Because this life is preparation for the next,I will value worship over wealth,we over me,character over comfort,service over status and people over possessions,position and pleasures.I know what matters most and I'll give it all I've got.I'll do my best I can with what I have for Jesus Christ today.

I won't be captivated by culture,manipulated by critics,motivated by praise,frustrated by problems,debilitated by temptation or intimidated by the devil.I'll keep running my race with my eyes on the goal and not the sidelines or those running beside me.

When times get tough and I get tired,I won't back up,back off,back down,back out or backslide.I'll just keep moving forward by God's grace.I'm spirit-led,purpose-driven and mission-focused,so I cannot be bought,I will not be compromised and I shall not quit until I finish the race.

I'm a trophy of God's amazing grace,so I will be gracious to everyone,grateful for everyday and generous with everything that God entrusts to me.

The confirm Mission Trip dates are finally out!

Cambodia (led by Brother Rixiang):
1. 4- 10 Oct (for poly students - have to quickly sign up soon)
2. 29 Nov - 5 Dec

Thailand (led by Sis Nana):
29 Nov - 5 Dec

Philippines (led by Pastor Daniel and sis wanping):
26 Nov - 3 Dec(this trip is also for the Z3 Band for the evangelistic rallies)

Due to air tickets,we need to respond quickly and hence, the deadline for all the forms are 5 September( Sat.). I have the soft copies of the forms so pls ask me if you need one. Remember that forms must be complete before we buy tickets meaning that the below are needed upon registration:

1. Photo (scanned printed photos are ok)
2. Photocopies of page with photo and expiry dates and any other extension. (2 copies)
3. $100 (necessary to buy air tickets)
4. Indemnity form (back) all signed

Note: If you can pay in full, please pay $700 first. We are working very hard to cut down the cost. Any remainder would be quickly refunded. Thanks!

In order to make it success, this following criteria need to be met.

A cell group dinner won't be one without the people, do make your effort to come.
If possible, can ask your parents whether can you have dinner outside for one week for those who need to eat at home.
And if you can't stay out too long, try to see whether can come out of house abit later in the afternoon but don't be late for cell ar :D
do all you can :D

2. OF COURSE, FOOD :D

okay, the food won't pop up.
so it will be like a ''pot-luck''thingy.
But, this time, there is no fix thing, just bring what you like to eat or what you will want the cell group to try.
For example: khoon is very good at making sushi, or mun kidd very good at cooking noodle, or regina good at jelly.

Against all odds.

Someone showed me this youtube video about abortion survivor gianna jessen giving a very compelling message about how God gave her life against all odds. her life mission is to make God smile. how many of us can say the same for ourselves?

Her life story starts with how her biological mother who was 17 then had a saline abortion in her third trimester (7.5 month pregnant) because she was not prepared to have a baby. it involves injecting saline solution into the mother's womb and it starts to burn the baby, and the baby is delivered within 24 hours, dead. despite the saline abortion, gianna was born alive and with celebral palsy.

But her never-give-up and shine-for-Christ attitude has brought her to complete marathons (even though she still has a limp) and address audiences around the world without fear of speaking up for the truth.

A few quotes from her speech at queen's hall, parliament house, victoria, australia, on 8 september 2008. it was on the eve of the debate to decriminalize abortion in Victoria...

"I didn't survive so I could make everyone comfortable. I survived so I could stir things up a bit. And I have a great time doing it."

"We are in an interesting battle. It is a battle between life and death. What side are you on?"

"My mission is to infuse humanity into a debate that we have just compartmentalized, and set on a shelf, and say (abortion) is an issue. We have removed our emotions. We are becoming harder."

"How much are you willing to take it and how much are you willing to risk, to speak the truth in love and graciousness and stand up and at least be willing to be hated? Or at the end of the day, is it all about you? Or me?"

He Did It Just For Youby Max Lucado

When God entered time and became a man, he who was boundless became bound. Imprisoned in flesh. Restricted by weary-prone muscles and eyelids. For more than three decades, his once limitless reach would be limited to the stretch of an arm, his speed checked to the pace of human feet.

I wonder, was he ever tempted to reclaim his boundlessness? In the middle of a long trip, did he ever consider transporting himself to the next city? When the rain chilled his bones, was he tempted to change the weather? When the heat parched his lips, did he give thought to popping over to the Caribbean for some refreshment?

If ever he entertained such thoughts, he never gave in to them. Not once. Stop and think about this. Not once did Christ use his supernatural powers for personal comfort. With one word he could’ve transformed the hard earth into a soft bed, but he didn’t. With a wave of his hand, he could’ve boomeranged the spit of his accusers back into their faces, but he didn’t. With an arch of his brow, he could’ve paralyzed the hand of the soldier as he braided the crown of thorns. But he didn’t.

Want to know the coolest thing about the coming?

Not that he, in an instant, went from needing nothing to needing air, food, a tub of hot water and salts for his tired feet, and, more than anything, needing somebody—anybody—who was more concerned about where he would spend eternity than where he would spend Friday’s paycheck.
Not that he kept his cool while the dozen best friends he ever had felt the heat and got out of the kitchen. Or that he gave no command to the angels who begged, “Just give the nod, Lord. One word and these demons will be deviled eggs.”

Not that he refused to defend himself when blamed for every sin since Adam. Or that he stood silent as a million guilty verdicts echoed in the tribunal of heaven and the giver of light was left in the chill of a sinner’s night.

Not even that after three days in a dark hole he stepped into the Easter sunrise with a smile and a swagger and a question for lowly Lucifer—“Is that your best punch?”

That was cool, incredibly cool.

But want to know the coolest thing about the One who gave up the crown of heaven for a crown of thorns?

He did it for you. Just for you.

Thank you for the 'surprise' on saturday! I enjoyed the birthday song you guys sang, the birthday cake which I sadly didn't get to eat, the words of blessing from individual one of you ( I was laughing while watching the video in my cam!), the video you guys took so much effort to do (heard from other cell leaders that you guys did it on the previous sat after I left and that you guys sang happy birthday so loudly that all of them know bout it) and not forgetting the scrapbook with all your beautiful pictures.

“Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread.”by Max Lucado

What a statement of trust! Whatever you want me to have is all I want. Some days the plate runs over. God keeps bringing out more food and we keep loosening our belt. A promotion. A privilege. A friendship. A gift. A lifetime of grace. An eternity of joy. There are times when we literally push ourselves back from the table, amazed at God’s kindness. “You serve me a six-course dinner right in front of my enemies. You revive my drooping head; my cup fills with blessing” (Ps. 23:5 MSG).

And then there are those days when, well, when we have to eat our broccoli. Our daily bread could be tears or sorrow or discipline. Our portion may include adversity as well as opportunity.
This verse was on my mind last night during family devotions. I called my daughters to the table and set a plate in front of each. In the center of the table I placed a collection of food: some fruit, some raw vegetables and some Oreo cookies. “Every day,” I explained, “God prepares for us a plate of experiences. What kind of plate do you most enjoy?”

The answer was easy. Sara put three cookies on her plate. Some days are like that, aren’t they? Some days are “three cookie days.” Many are not. Sometimes our plate has nothing but vegetables—twenty-four hours of celery, carrots, and squash. Apparently God knows we need some strength, and though the portion may be hard to swallow, isn’t it for our own good? Most days, however, have a bit of it all. Vegetables, which are healthy but dull. Fruit, which tastes better and we enjoy. And even an Oreo, which does little for our nutrition, but a lot for our attitude.

All are important and all are from God.

The next time your plate has more broccoli than apple pie, remember who prepared the meal. And the next time your plate has a portion you find hard to swallow, talk to God about it. Jesus did. In the garden of Gethsemane his Father handed him a cup of suffering so sour, so vile, that Jesus handed it back to heaven. “My Father,” he prayed, “if it is possible may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will” (Matt. 26:39).

Even Jesus was given a portion he found hard to swallow. But with God’s help, he did. And with God’s help, you can too.
